Marcus Ian Friedlander
Cinematographer. Writer. Storyteller.
Marcus Friedlander has been working behind the camera since the age of 14. At the age of 15, he directed and shot his first of several short films, and continued to direct until the age of 18. Around his 18th birthday, when he committed to going to film school, Marcus made the conscious decision to combine his passions into a singular focus, lasering in completely on scripted, narrative, cinematography.
On arriving to film school, Marcus chose to major in Screenwriting instead of cinematography. The logic being, that cinematography is best learned through apprenticeship. Whereas, Screenwriting organically lends itself to an academic education. This logic, combined with the years Marcus spent working as a 1st AC, and at an equipment rental house, has placed Marcus in a fantastic position to compete in the highly competitive market of Narrative Cinematography.
Now, at the age of 32, Marcus has shot over fifty features, produced six more, and shot dozens of commercials and music videos, all while also running a production company for five years that specialized in developing independent feature films.
